Jack holds a Bachelor of Science degree from West Point, a Master of Science degree in Engineering from Princeton University, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A retired Army officer, he served eighteen years on the faculty of the United States Military Academy and then eight years at Tulane University; he has taught courses in structural, environmental and computer-aided engineering. His publications include interactive engineering design, database transfer mechanisms, environmental security and educational aspects in engineering. Active in many professional societies, Jack served on the National Board of Directors of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
